Lightning Photo Gallery

An extreme close-up view of lightning repeatedly striking the WVAH television tower near St. Albans, West Virginia during an evening thunderstorm on July 4, 2006 provides rarely-seen detail of a lightning channel. In this image, the decaying or 'beading out' of the visible lightning channel can be seen along with sparks of molten metal flying off of the antenna tip.
