High-Voltage Machine Rentals and Demonstrations

Appalachian Skies Media owns and operates specialized high-voltage machines used to produce electrostatic phenomena (static electricity). We own two Van de Graaff generators (large and small) and a Wimshurst machine, devices that are great attention-grabbers at conventions, trade shows, science expositions and educational functions. Our electrostatic machines are identical to the models found in the nation's top science museums and university physics laboratories. These machines can generate up to 400,000 volts and be used to perform hair-raising tricks, create intense, bright and loud 'miniature lightning' sparks up to 8" long, and much more.

wvlightning.com

The most important and most visible aspect of Appalachian Skies is the wvlightning.com web site. wvlightning.com is a popular weather and storm chasing web site that also serves as an evangelistic ministry. The site was started in 1995 and was one of the first sites of its kind on the internet. wvlightning.com serves as the central 'portal' for all of the sites in the Appalachian Skies family, and is updated with news stories, feature articles, photos and educational material. The Appalachian Skies mobile ENG vehicle is lettered with wvlightning.com logos and graphics. The ministry side of wvlightning.com allows visitors to the site from all over the world to read and hear about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This ministry, we believe, is central to all that Appalachian Skies does - in that through all of our business and storm chasing activities, that people would have a chance to hear the life-changing message of Christ.
