NC drought relief; back to WV

Got in one more North Carolina chase today, which will be the last of my nearly three-week stay in Raleigh. Today's cells were very tropical storm-like, with blinding, gusty downpours but no lightning that I saw. As a result, not much to report. All things considered, this April has been fairly active for central NC, bringing a few nice chase opportunities but mostly well-needed (but boring) rainfall. The ground has been soaked quite a few times in the Raleigh area in recent weeks, putting a good dent in the long drought that has been in place.

I will return to West Virginia on Wednesday, in preparation for the possibility of a few Plains chases as severe weather season peaks. A couple of unexpected web contracts have come in this month, which may allow me to make a short chase trip on my own in the next couple of weeks.

I had a chase partner today for my brief run around southern Wake County (dog-sitting my brother's dog Beau):

Like me, she got bored with the heavy downpours with no lightning:

Seeing as how I was driving, I wasn't lucky enough to also get a nap in before getting back home.
