I know this is the real reason everyone comes to this site - for the corn photos. The stalks around here are about 7-8 feet high now and still growing - the shot of my truck is for comparison. Apparently these will grow to over 12 feet high before harvest in the fall, and have already reached the stage where they now fully block the horizon views. Thankfully though, about a third of the fields have been planted with soybeans, so there are still plenty of good sky viewing/storm photography locations available.
Biggest viewing concern with corn is rural intersections and idiots who blow through them. Even if you have the right of way, be wary of the hazard. - Posted by Paul from Decatur, IL
Yeah I've noticed that - usually could see cross traffic coming for a mile, now not at all. - Posted by Dan R. from New Baden, IL
