One of the big problems during hurricanes are fuel shortages caused by large-scale evacuations. Millions of people leaving the area in their cars causes most gas stations to run out of fuel quickly before a hurricane strikes. Anyone staying behind could get stranded until supplies arrive after the storm. These pumps at a station near Daytona Beach, Florida are still dry one day after Hurricane Frances' landfall in September of 2004. Image from 4.7MP digital camera.
